Heavenly Chicken is one of my most asked for recipes. It's a satisfying, tummy filling, oh-so-good meal....you'll push yourself away from the table saying 'aaaaahhhh! That was good!'

This recipe only
takes a few minutes to prepare,
but it takes about 1 1/2 hours to bake...so start
early!
HEAVENLY CHICKEN
6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
8 oz pkg sliced swiss cheese
2 10 3/4 oz cans cream of chicken soup
1 3/4 cup stuffing mix
1 cup butter, melted
Place chicken breasts in a lightly greased 13" x 9" baking pan.
Arrange cheese slices over chicken, covering to edges.
Spread soup over cheese., extending to edges.
Sprinkle with stuffing mix.
Drizzle melted butter over stuffing.
Cover and bake at 300* for one hour.
Uncover; continue baking for one additional hour.
(I baked it for 20 more minutes and it was done. I
think any longer than that and the stuffing will burn)
Serves 6

ReplyDeleteI've made this exact recipe layered in the crockpot (I have a 6-qt. oval one). I think it was called Crockpot Swiss Chicken. Anyway, you cook it all day on low. So easy and definitely yummy!
ReplyDeleteIt looks SO good! Too bad it takes so much melted butter/margarine. I don't like butter or margarine, especially melted! I don't even butter toast!! It's such a shame because this really looks great! I'm going to recommmend this to my Sister who does eat butter. I know she will love this!
ReplyDeleteTry using chicken stock instead of the butter, it should be just fine.
DeleteIf you dont use butter, you can use some chicken broth and olive oil to soften and let this brown ,would be a healthy alternative. :0)

ReplyDeleteYes, Heavenly chicken does look delicious, but I just checked the calories, fat and sodium amounts and if you eat like this very often, you will get to "Heaven" a lot sooner than you want.

Is that 2hr's 20 minute's? OR 1 hr 20 min's?. Can't wait to make this...

DeleteYes..it is 1 hr and 20 minutes bake time. The recipe calls for longer, but it would burn. May just be a typo in the book. :-)
Looks delish and making it for myself for dinner today! At 300 degreees I take it to mean 2 hrs and 20 mins.
