Decadent Chocolate Torte



 Although I know there are several names for this dessert,
ie Chocolate Delight, Better Than Sex Cake, 
Chocolate Fluff Cake, etc
and 
 call it
Decadent Chocolate Torte.
I think I like that name better.
Sounds a little fancier doesn't it?
Like something you should serve on your finest china
and not on a plastic dessert plate after a 
good ol' Bar-B-Q! 

And just a little FYI...
if you want it for dessert tomorrow, 
you'll need to make it today!


Decadent Chocolate Torte

Ingredients for crust
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, 
softened to room temperature
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup finely chopped walnuts

First Layer
1 8oz pkg cream cheese, softened at room temperature
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup Cool Whip (or homemade whipped cream)
(I used Fat Free cream cheese and Cool Whip)

Second Layer
2 (3.9 oz) pkg chocolate instant pudding
3 cups whole milk
(I used sugar free pudding
and 1% milk)

Topping
Remaining cool whip
chopped walnuts
or grated chocolate

Preheat oven to 375*
In a bowl, mix together flour, walnuts and butter until mixture resembles cookie dough.
Spread into the bottom of a greased 9x13 glass baking dish.
(I used non-stick spray)
Bake approx 15 - 20 minutes or until crust is lightly browned.
Completely cool, about an hour.

Mix together cream cheese and powdered sugar until well blended. Add 1 cup Cool Whip and mix together.

Spread this layer over the cooled crust.


Mix together instant pudding with 3 cups of milk until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes.

Carefully spread over the cream cheese.

Spread the remaining Cool Whip on top.

Cover and refrigerate. 
Best if refrigerated 24 hours.

Look at the layers of yumminess in this dessert!
  
Each layer has a flavor of it's own...
but all mixed together....oh my!
It does deserve it's own fine china!

  2. It is also called Heavenly Suprise. Maybe mom called it that because she first tasted it at a church supper, so everytime she fixed it she always calls it Heavenly Suprise. The name fits it because it is heavenly in taste!!!

  3. in our family we call it a no name dessert bc we never knew what anyone called it so that how it was named that. i do like that dessert it a favorite at christmas at our house
